First Aid Level 1-3 Training Course

Duration: 5 Days

First Aid Level 1 Training is for persons required to assess the emergency situation and providing basic First Aid in order to stabilise a victim prior to the arrival of Emergency Services. People that have undergone First aid Level 1 Training will be able to demonstrate and understanding of elementary anatomy and physiology, assist in an emergency situation, apply First Aid procedures to a life threatening situation and treat common injuries.

Course content:

  • Principles of emergency care
  • Emergency scene management
  • Artificial respirations- Adult, child, Infant
  • CPR adult, child and infant
  • Choking- conscious and unconscious victims
  • Wound and bleeding
  • Shock, unconsciousness and fainting
  • Burns
  • Fractures and splinting
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Medical conditions


  • Written test (closed book)
  • 70% pass mark.
  • Practical demonstration of first aid skills.

First Aid Level 2 ( 2 Days)

First Aid Level 2 training will be useful for employees to enable them to provide primary emergency care (first aid) in response to an occupational risk induced or any health emergency in their specific workplaces.

People that have undergone First Aid Level 2 training will be able to: demonstrate the principles of primary emergency care; assess and control a single injury emergency scene in the workplace; demonstrate primary emergency life support for adults, children and infants; explain and manage shock; carry out secondary assessment of the sick or injured person and provide appropriate primary emergency care at the scene; keep records of the incident/accident

Course content:

  • Emergency scene management
  • Artificial respiration; adult, child and infant
  • CPR – one person; adult, child and infant
  • Airway obstruction; conscious and unconscious adult, child and infant
  • Chest pains and stroke
  • Medical emergencies
  • Joint injuries and rescue carries
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Poisons bites, & stings
  • Chest, pelvic and abdominal injuries
  • Multiple injury management
  • Amputations and bleeding

Entrance requirement:

  • First aid Level 1
  • First aid Level 3 (3 Days)
  • To train First Aiders as First Aid Team Leaders to operate in high risk situations requiring higher levels of first aid skills

Course content include Level 1-2 lessons

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED use)
  • Emergency child birth
  • Heat and cold injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Chest injuries
  • Rescue carries

Minimum Entry:

  • Grade 9 education level or equivalent,
  • plus a valid Level 2 First aid certificate.
