The First Aid Level 1 Course is the minimum requirement to be compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. This First Aid Level 1 Training Course incorporates the specific outcomes and assessment criteria of the following SAQA registered Unit Standard:

This Level 1 first aid course meets the requirements of the Department of Labour in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and incorporates the specific outcomes and assessment criteria of the SAQA-registered Unit Standard 119567. CPR in this course complies with the guidelines released by the American Heart Association, October 2015.

Course Contents:

  • The principles of emergency care in the workplace.
  • Preparedness for health emergencies in the workplace.
  • Assessing and managing an emergency scene in the workplace.
  • The Primary Survey.
  • Emergency life support for adults, children and infants, including single and two persons.
  • CPR, artificial respiration, and managing a choking patient.
  • Bleeding and shock.
  • The secondary survey.
  • Management of wounds; soft tissue injuries.
  • Fractures.
  • Burns.
  • Environmental illness and injuries.
  • First Aid Incident Reporting and Procedures.

Cost includes

First aid training manual; CPR Mouthpiece and Gloves; Assessment of Portfolio of Evidence by SETA registered Assessors and Moderators; Certificate of competence valid for 3 years.
